A Brief Background
I spent many years working with animals in West Africa, first with Gerald Durrell in Cameroon in 1957 (see Durrell's book 'A Zoo in my Luggage'), then developing the Zoological Garden at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, from 1963 to 1979. Subsequently, I was involved in various capacities with Chessington Zoo, Cotswold Wildlife Park and Windsor Safari Park, all in the UK.
