Hinged tortoise (Kinixys belliana). These tortoises are so called because of the hinged carapace which can close at the back to protect the back feet and rear end generally. In Nigeria this species seems to be distributed mainly in the drier areas to the north, while K. homeana is found further south. March 1964.
